‘Gimme a reason’ is about wanting someone to give you a reason to stay with them in a relationship/friendship/ family when you don’t feel like they are giving you the love or time that you need. It’s hard to lay out your feelings to someone you care about especially when you want them to do more for you, so this song just describes that feeling. It's a combination of different experiences I’ve had and I’ve used them to narrate a story, I think everyone can relate to it in some sense. whether it’s in a friendship, relationship or with family.

It’s never easy to tell people how you feel especially when you know it’s going to hurt them in some way but when you don’t tell them, you in turn hurt yourself so it’s always best to get things out in the open so I think this song reminds me and hopefully other people to always say how they feel so things can get worked through for the betterment of everyone involved. This song has been the hardest to let go of because I was obsessed with it when we first made it and then I started to not like it as much, so it’s gone through various versions of itself but when we stripped it back and started from the beginning I regained my love for the song!
